Standard 4: Instructional Strategies

A teacher must understand and use a variety of instructional strategies to encourage student development of critical thinking, problem solving, and performance skills.

I am a big believer in multi-sensory learning.  Multisensory teaching techniques and strategies encourage learning by engaging students on multiple levels.  It is important to use a variety of techniques to engage all types of learning styles on multiple levels.  The goal is to engage all students in learning to think critically, problem solve, and to have their own ideas beyond what they have memorized in textbooks.
